Dual enrollment is an advantage to high school students as it allows them to get a head start on their college careers. Furthermore, participation in dual enrollment may ease the transition from high school to college by giving students a sense of what college academics are like. In addition, dual enrollment is a financial savings for parents, as the classes are included in tuition already being paid for high school.
For many years, PCCA has had an articulation agreement with Valencia College to provide the dual enrollment option to our students who meet the qualifications to do so. However, the students have had to schedule the college class around their current daily schedule as they would have to travel to the college campus to take the class.
PCCA continues a joint venture with Southeastern University (based in Lakeland). The dual enrollment classes that PCCA students will take will be on our own campus and a part of the students regular daily schedule. The class will fulfill their high school credit towards graduation and will also count as college level credit towards a students college degree of choice. These courses are fully transferable to any college the student chooses to attend just like those dual enrollment classes that our students take on the campus of or through Valencia College.
These courses have a GPA weight the same as AP classes. PCCA students will not have to attend any other classes off campus or on the campus of Southeastern University.
